Place ID

Hex and ChIJ place IDs embedded in Maps URLs.

Decoding uses URL pattern matching only — your link stays private.

Frequently asked questions

Why does my URL have no coordinates?

Short goo.gl/maps links and some place-only URLs do not embed coordinates. Open the full URL in a browser first, or use Maps List Export to scan the place directly.

Does this resolve short links?

No. Short links must be expanded in a browser first. We only parse the URL string you paste.

Skip the Takeout wait

Maps List Export scans your saved lists directly in Chrome—full place details, no ZIP upload.
