Google Takeout delivers saved places as a ZIP. Follow these steps, then upload the file above—no manual unzip needed.
Open Google Takeout
Go to takeout.google.com and sign in with the Google account that has your saved places.
Select Saved only
Click Deselect all, then select Saved (Collections of saved links from Google Search and Maps) only.
Create export
Click Next step, choose Export once, set format to .zip, then Create export.
Download the ZIP
Wait for Google to prepare your export (usually minutes). Download from email or the Takeout page.

Frequently asked questions
Do Saved CSV files include coordinates?
Usually not. Saved CSV exports from Google Takeout typically include Title, Note, and a Google Maps URL—not latitude and longitude. Saved Places.json often includes coordinates. Use Enrich coordinates on this page to fetch address and lat/lng for CSV rows, or use the Maps List Export Chrome extension for live scanning.
Is my data uploaded to your servers?
Parsing and conversion are 100% local in your browser—your Takeout files never leave your device until you export. Enrich coordinates is optional: only place ids for rows you enrich are sent to our API. We do not store your place lists.
Do I need Google Takeout if I use the Chrome extension?
No. Maps List Export scans saved lists directly from Google Maps in Chrome—no Takeout export required. This converter is for people who already have a Takeout ZIP or Saved/*.csv backup.
Can I upload the Google Takeout ZIP directly?
Yes. Upload the entire .zip file. The tool unzips it in your browser and finds CSV files inside the Saved folder automatically.
My CSV headers are not in English — will it work?
Yes. We detect column headers in 11+ languages including German (Titel), French (Titre), Spanish (Título), and Chinese (标题).
Which files do I need from my Takeout download?
Select only "Saved" when creating your Takeout export. Inside the ZIP you will find CSV files in Takeout/Saved/—one file per list (Starred Places, Want to go, custom lists).
What export formats are supported?
CSV (with latitude/longitude columns), KML for Google Earth, GPX for GPS devices, GeoJSON for web maps, and raw JSON.
How is this different from Takeout Tools?
